Ladders
The rules of the ladder for the 2009-2010 season are simple and are as follows.
1. To begin with you are ordered in the standards you declared, Places on the ladder are ordered by the beginning of the year mini-tournament. You may challenge anyone on the ladder for your first 2 challenges. Afterwards, you can only challenge people up to 4 places above you.
3. If you win you take the place of your opponent in the ladder, and they move down one.
4. If you refuse a challenge without good reason you forfeit your position to the challenger.
5. The format of the matches can be agreed by you and your opponent (1,3,5 sets).
6. You must declare your ladder result to the committee either at tennis or by email to tennis@qub.ac.uk to register it on the ladder.
7. Matches should be played on wednesday afternoons or. Alternatively you can arrange with your opponent other suitable arrangements.
8. There will be prizes for the best male and female beginner, intermediate and advanced player at the end of the year.
9. NEW RULE- A new format is being trialled for 09/10. We will be using a points system:
1 point- Awarded for playing a match
3 points- For winning a match
(in special circumstances, if there is no-one your standard to challenge you can select an opponent from other standards, although they can refuse with no penalties. Points will differ in these Occasions- 1 Point for playing.
2 points awarded if the higher standard player wins.
4 points awarded if the lower standard player wins.
Note: The players marked with an (A), (I), (B), are the highest ranked men and women in their respective classes, and therefore are currently in the end-of season prize winning position.
